Order Of Photos: These
photos are ordered more or less as you would have seen the layout
by entering the front door, and then moving clockwise around the
layout.
Design: The layout runs
around all 4 walls of the building, and passes right over top of
the front door.
Opinion
This club is probably one of the
most secure clubs in the area, for the following reasons:
The club owns the building
(nobody can evict them)
The club designed and built the
building to fit the railroad. Everything "works"--there is
plenty of railroad and plenty of room for the
public.
The building appears very
secure--built like a concrete bomb shelter--which should
minimize the risk of vandalism or arson, which some clubs have
suffered.
1. Views Looking
Toward The Front Wall
Photo 1 - Just stepped inside, looking back over my shoulder at the
front door. (509c)
Opinion: This is the way all buildings should
be designed !! . . . so you can run model trains around the room
and over the door without interfering with pedestrian traffic
flow.
Photo 2 - Moving further inside the building, still looking back
towards the front door. (528b)
2. Views Along The
North Wall - In The Front Of The
Building
Note: After you
enter the buiding, the north wall is to the left, which is how you
would proceed if you tour the layout in a clockwise
direction.
Photo 3 - Standing along the north wall, looking back toward the
front of the building (543b)
Photo 4 - A closer look at the northwest corner (538b)
You can see the front door in the upper left corner of
this photo
Photo 5 - Standing along the north wall, looking at the cog railway
(529b)
You can see this location in Photo 3
also.
Photo 6 - A close look at the cog railway (529b)
The cog is kitbashed. The drive is in the passenger
car. You can see the cog wheel just to the left of the right
truck.
Photo 7 - Standing at the north wall, looking toward the rear of the
building (544)
You can see this ferris wheel also in Photo
1.
Note the mainline goes through a hole in the wall
which you can see in the upper left.
The city continues to the right of this photo. Note
the yellow control tower, which you can find in the next
photo.
Photo 8 - Looking north at the city. (540c)
Note the yellow control tower mentioned in the
previous photo, can be seen in the background.
3. Views Along The
North Wall - In The The Rear Of The
Building
Photo 9 - Standing near the rear of the building, looking toward the
front, we see another yellow control tower in larger scale
(533b)
The vantage point of the previous photo is just behind
this tower.
Trains on the mainline come through the hole in the
wall, and would enter this photo near the upper right, about where
the gentlemen in the yellow cap is staring.
You can see the location of the front door at the very
rear of the photo.
Photo 10 - Diesel service faciliy (536b)
This scene is located behind the little yellow caboose
in the previous photo
Photo 11 - Yard area along the north wall (523b)
4. Views Looking
Toward The Rear Wall
Photo 12 - Standing approximately in the center of the building -
looking at the rear wall (531b)
The location of the yard seen in the previous photo,
is not visible in this photo, but is approximately to the left of
this photo
Photo 13- Looking at the rear wall and the turntable area
(520c)
Note that you can see this area in the back of the
previous photo
5. Views Along The
South Wall
Photo 14 - Standing near the rear of the building in the southeast
corner, looking along the south wall towards the front wall of the
building (519b)
Photo 15 - Standing approximately in the center of the building,
looking towards the front wall (530b)
Note the locatioin of the man with the pipe in his
mouth. The following photo was taken slight behind where he is
standing, looking in this direction.
Photo 16 - Standing near the southwest corner in the front, looking
toward the rear of the building. (515b)
The previous Photo 15 was taken about where the man
and woman in the background are standing.
Incidently, the gentleman in the black hat is the
club's president, Ned Thomas.
