Bruce Division Hamilton Sub. Added photo of westbound freight approaching Hamilton Junction. Read what is special about the van in this scene. Shortlines Train gallery. Added a photo of FIVE covered wagons hauling the Autumn fall colours season Tour train! Soon, the 1980 Great Recession and the fact ridrship had long been about 85% American's would end these length of trains never to return. With ownership by CN the decline has worsened. Rumour of a pending sale by CN may well be the best news for the old Algoma Central. Best bet would be for ONR to take it over since they have the interest of Northen Ontario at heart. Linking ACR passenger tours with ONR's perhaps including the Huron Central which G&W is again making noise about ending its lease would provide more choices to boost tourism especially if such trains could include Toronto and Niagara Falls! How is that for an idea? Better to put taxpayer dollars to work creating jobs in the North than on Employment Insurance!

CPR steam Jubilee 4-4-4 Added (link) to 3003 speed record 112 1/2 mph set in 1936 and never beaten! These 3000's hauled The Bullet between Toronto and Windsor and were the only steam locomotives that had no speed limit listed in the employee time table which had 90 mph for H1 class 2800's including the famous Royal Hudsons. Once upon a time I rode the cab of Budd Cars to Windsor (on our way to Detroit riding on passes!) with a senior engineer by the last name of Christopher whom I knew had run the 3000's. (His son was a London Division fireman I had woke up in the bunkhouse at Lambton Yard when I was a call boy). I could see the RDC's speedometer needle on 90 mph and those level crossings sure came up fast! During a station stop I asked him how fast the 3000's could go and he replied that normal was 100+ and the fastest he got one going was 112 1/2 mph at which point he had to ease off on the throttle as she began to work against herself! This was on 90 lb rail and not CWR!

ARTICLES After 22 years and 8 months of providing great customer service that resulted in a huge increase in freight traffic the end came on August 28th. when Ontario Southland, its management and employees left the City of Guelph's property. Sadly, all that hard work, pride, dedication to duty and service to the community wasn't enough to ensure that a fair and equitable agreement could be reached to renew the contract to operate the Guelph Junction Railway. Best of luck to all of OSR's railroaders may you all Live Long and Prosper. HIGH BALL!

Added colour photo of 3422 one of the last steam yard engines on London Division and the last steam yard engine at John Street. It was also one of the last steam engines in Ontario ending April 30, 1960 at Port Mc.Nicoll. I attempted to preserve this engine (and 3632 also from Port) for a proposed tourist RR in Toronto on the CPR Scarborough Pit Spur. Both engines were held inside Lambton roundhouse for a few months. Sadly, it was still-born.

Added (scroll to very bottom) recent photo that shows
newly installed (not yet in service) CTC signals next to very old ABS
signals still in use. This began last year and will take this year to
finish. When done the sub. will be single tracked for most of the way
between Dorion, QC (end of the suburban commuter service) and Smiths
Falls, ON former junction with the long-abandoned Chalk River Sub. to
Sudbury. There will be a few places where there will be miles long double
track sections signalled for faster meets. There will be about 100 miles
of track removed which will allow rail to be reused on the newly acquired
Central Maine and Quebec upgrading it for faster track speed (25 to
40 mph) and heavier (263,000 lbs.) capacity rolling stock.

ARCHIVES Added CPR Ontario District Time Table 44 effective May 1st, 1921. While in poor condition this time table was purchased to fill a gap in years. Hand written notes both detract and add to the artifact. Proof (above 44 on cover) indicates it has been prepared to show changes to various times of trains for the next time table to be issued later in the year.

CPR Ontario District CPR Bruce Passenger Service Hamilton Added 2662 at TH&B Hunter Street in Hamilton with a NYC train from Buffalo bound for Toronto. By this date three newer G3's had replaced four older John Street engines specially equipped for ATC over NYC Welland-Buffalo. It is possible 2662 retained its ATC equipment and kept as a protect engine. It would later become a Lambton engine.
