Le-Petit Train du Nord
(Little Train of the North)

A linear park in the heart of the Laurentians was formed on
125 miles (200 km) of the abandoned CPR Ste Agathe Subdivision
between St-Jerome and Mont Laurier, Quebec.
It caters to bicycle riders and includes several former stations.
Along the line there are hotels, B&B's, restaurants etc.
to serve the many tourists.who ride along it.

Canadian Pacific Railway purchased the line in 1897 from St. Jérôme to Labelle from the
Montreal Northern Colonization Railway Company. From Labelle to Mont-Laurier was constructed by
La Compagnie de Chemin de Fer de Colonisation du Nord. It was completed in 1909.
The CPR leased the line for 99 years on January 1, 1905.

Passenger service was discontinued November 15, 1981 as part of the massive (40%) reduction of VIA trains.
VIA public time table was extended from late October until November 14th.

The Ste Agathe Sub. was abandoned December 31, 1989 between Ste-Agathe and Mont Laurier 94 miles.
Further abandonment took place between St-Jerome, Quebec and Ste-Agathe.

Right-of-Way acquired in 1994 and trail opened in 1996.
