Goderich-Exeter Genesee & Wyoming Canada
This was Ontario's first modern-era shortline spinoff. Its
pioneer effort resulted in a long delay getting into operation. A major expansion of their operation took place November 15, 1998 with the lease of CN Guelph Sub. from Silver (near Georgetown) to London East 90 miles, North Guelph Spur 2.4 miles, Galt Industrial Spur 2.5 miles, Solaware Spur 1.2 miles, Huron Park Spur 5.3 miles, Fergus Spur 13 miles. Along with running rights into MacMillan Yard Toronto. All of these leased lines were to be named South Western
Ontario Railway (SWOR) based in Kitchener. Rail America was acquired December 28, 2012 by Genesee and Wyoming. The lease was ended by CN November 15, 2018. GEXR continues to operate the owned lines to Goderich etc.
