Western Labrador Rail Services (G&W)

Bloom Lake

Western Labrador Rail Services, a subsidiary of Genesee & Wyoming operated iron ore trains from Bloom Lake open pit mine in Quebec 20 miles to Wabush, Labrador. This began 9/2010 but was suspended in 2012.

Note: Cliffs Natural Resources bought Consolidated Thompson Iron Mines 1/11/2011 which included Bloom Lake.
Mine operation was suspended in the Fall of 2012. Sold December 2015 to Quebec Iron Ore a subsidiary of
Champion Iron Mines.

Labrador Iron Mines

WLRS also operated a 4.5 mile railway from LIM's Silver Yard to Knob Lake Junction
Mile 353.2 Menihek Sub. Tshiuetin Rail Transportation starting in 2011.

Arnaud and Wabush Lake

WLRS took over operation of both of these railways in 2011.
