Canadian Pacific Railway West from Souris, Manitoba in 1976 Phil Mason Here are some images from the trip Stan Smaill and myself made in the summer of 1976. GP9 8502 was somewhat of an old friend, having been frequently used as a yard engine at Revelstoke and as stand by power for 1 & 2 The Canadian. Napinka was a junction for a branchline to the south. Medora
was a typical grain elevator town. At Hartney MB, a former Canadian Northern
branch crossed with a manual interlocking. It was later abandoned through
here.
The operator was about the only employee around the station at Souris on the Estevan Subdivision. Extra 8502 West crossing the diamond at Hartney. Tailend view leaving Hartney. Extra 8502 West passing Napinka. Clearly, the weeds have taken over! Napinka, junction with the Napinka Sub. Extra 8502 at Medora on the Napinka Sub.
