EMD E8 2250 hp 85 mph A-1-A A-1-A dual steam generator equipped rear m.u. only
Designed strictly for passenger service these units had no traction motors on the middle axles.

CPR bought these units to pool with Boston and Maine for Montreal-Boston service.
Later, they worked on other routes, one was destroyed in a wreck, two were upgraded and later sold to VIA Rail.
They were scrapped in spite of an effort to save one for a railway museum.
