CNR Rolling Stock

School On Wheels

For many decades from 1926 until 1967 education in Northern Ontario's remote communities depended up a travelling school room visiting for a week about every six weeks. Routes were operated using four CNR, two CPR and one ONR cars. These cars were supplied by the railway and operated for the Provincial government.

The first school began in September 1926 running from Capreol to Foleyet on the CNR with its teacher Fred Sloman.
