The Republic of Texas was annexed into the United States
of America March 1, 1845.

War was declared against Mexico May 11, 1846.
- It was settled February 2, 1848 by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo,
setting the boundary as the Rio Grande River as at present.
- Texas claimed a large amount of land which was settled by the Compromise
of 1850
whereby about 1/3 was bought by the USA for $10 million, resulting in current
borders.
