Wilfred Carter (1904-1996) born in Nova Scotia. Canada's first country music star. Singer, song writer, guitarist and yodeller. 1930 began radio broadcast. 1932 hired by CPR as a trail rider promoting horseback excursions in the Rockies. 1933 began recording at RCA Victor in Montreal. 1937 moved to Calgary and bought a ranch. Retired 1992.
