Display train of Super Continental equipment in new paint scheme. 6525-6625. Circa 1962. Canadian National
This photograph is interesting for far more than just the train
which is at the west end of Toronto Union Station. John Street Tower is just
out of view to the left. All of this has been built over. On lower level behind
A unit is CN team and CN Express. Now site of the Metro Toronto Convention
Centre. In the background is CNR's freight shed along Front Street West at
Simcoe Street. This is now the site of office towers including CBC's broadcast
centre. Note the old Barclay hotel, now a parking lot.
Tan coloured building behind baggage car is CN Telegraph building. Note the
dead end track third over. This was known as the "fence" track and
was used to hold a few CN coaches at the ready to add on a train on short
notice since CN's coach yard was some distance away unlike CPR's which was
much closer.
