John Street shop tracks
Looking east from turntable. Note dog is not set in place. Hook is removeable. Straight ahead beyond walkway are pair of concrete blow downs sheds. Also, behind water column is trimmer's shack where cab supplies are kept such as flags, handlamps, oil cans and feeders, spares etc. These are put on outbound engines by a labourer. To the right the ashpit hoist is dumping cinders into hopper car. Far right is ice house. Roundhouse is just out of view to far right. At far left is the Stores Building which also contains the General Locomotive Foreman's offices, engine crew booking room, with lunch and locker rooms in basement, entered at crosswalk to low level extension. The two level portion contains bunkhouse rooms on upper level and stores on ground level and basement. Far low level portion contains various small workshops such as tinsmith, carpenter, upholstery etc. with first aid room and General Car Foreman's office at far end. Straight ahead, coal chutes and hopper cars on raised deadend track. To left of straight track in distance is a tower where a hose is setup to sprinkle coal in tender to reduce dust. 1958 R.L.Kennedy
