4. SW1200RS were to have started at 1200. May 1981 changed to 1206 with addition of SW9 7400-7405.

Note: Added 9 yard units in reused slot with acquisition of TH&B. GP7 72-77 (71 scrapped). GP9 401-403

Note: Effective November 1981 alignment control couplers were being removed from GP yard units due to problems with coupling cars on yard curves.

6. 8131 - 8171 January 1985 12 units to be selected for rebuild as road switchers. Later changed to 23 units.
Only 9 actually rebuilt as road switchers: 1268 - 1276 backwards.... Program ended for low horsepower units
This resulted in a mixing of sub-classes, thus a carefully planned way to keep units in separate blocks was lost.
Original specifications: 8100-8130 40% t.e. 224,000 wt. 112 tons. 8131-8171 42% t.e. 233,000 116 1/2 tons
7. 8729, 8739, 8754 scrapped.
8. 8921 was not renumbered 8300.
9. 6704, 6709 sold.
10. Only two units each model rebuilt in 1984. 6700 6708 and 6712 6720. Only four units to get m.u.
..... Program ended for low horsepower units. Most remaining given roller bearings and overhauled when due.
11. May 1981 decision was made to add SW9's in same number series as other 1200 hp units.
