Train Order Signals
This great night time view shows both train order boards at Yellow,
just days away from their end.
The last train on the Galt Sub. to operate under timetable/train
order authority was No.904
Eng 5406 (5406-5550-5571-5718). This train worked at Woodstock after
meeting "Extra SOO 6610 West"
at Zorra, and was by Guelph Jct. in daylight after meeting one more
train, "Extra 5544 West".
After this train, CP basically shut down the London Division for a few
hours to ensure no trains would be on
the main tracks within ABS territory at the magic hour of 0001 July
6, 1986 when "MBS" (Manual Block
System as it was then called) came into effect. A small contingent of
railfans were at Guelph Junction at
midnight to record the removal of the train order signal. In the very
first hours of July 6th, "Extra 5511 West"
became the first train cleared via radio MBS clearance on the Galt Sub.
