Lambton Shed

All photographs: R.L.Kennedy

Lambton freight office at corner of Runnymede and St.Clair. Originally, Tormon Shed at 750 Runnymede Road (same address as the yard office!), this building was given a major renovation for Consolidated FastFrate Inc. (Fast Frate) which relocated here from Parkdale Shed in 1983, at which time address became 2525 St.Clair Ave.West. Yard Office is at far left, hidden by trees. Fast Frate was an outstanding neighbour which kept their property landscaped and spotlessly clean even putting a garbage container next to the bus stop and emptying it themselves!

This view shows the extent of the shed property which stretched west along St.Clair for five short blocks.

A long string of clean tractors stretches well past Castleton Avenue, first block west of Runnymede.

Beyond the end of the shed was the truck garage between Mariposa and French Avenues.

End of shed, 115 truck doors, looking east. Garage is behind photographer.

Pitch and Catch (remote control) yard engine 1578-1013 switching inside the shed. Tracks K463 and K464 inside held about 20 box cars each.K465 (yellow boxcar) outside was for storage of extra empties. Road Railer bogies and Triple Crown trailers at right. August 13, 2000

This view shows the shed extention, Tormon used this for high security pharmaceuticals. Road Railer bogies in foreground.
NOTE: This facility was closed when FastFrate moved in September 2000 to a new, larger shed located at Vaughan. It was finally demolished in February 2003 for redevelopment into a "big box" building supply store which was cancelled. Eventually, the property was resold for a Wal Mart store.
