Donald, BC, named for Donald Smith, was a Division point
and the boundary between the Western and the Pacific Divisions as well
as the boundary between Mountain and Pacific Time. A 12 stall roundhouse
was part of the facilities here. Diamond stacked wood burner 0-6-0 152
was originally built in 1868 by Fox,Walker and Company, Bristol, England,
as a broad gauge (5 foot 6 inch) 4-4-0 number 1 Evangeline for
the Windsor and Annapolis. It was one of six similar locomotives acquired
in 1875 by the Intercolonial Ry.of Canada when it was standard gauged.
They worked on government construction (Purcell & Ryan) westward
out of Thunder Bay and in 1883 the four remaining engines were sold
to the CPR and in 1887 rebuilt as 0-6-0's. 152 was scrapped in 1907.
