Remarks:    Another Single Fairlie type, rather larger and heavier than 'R' class engines. Originally assigned to the Wellington-Summit section of the Rimutaka line, they were also employed in Taranaki and Wairarapa districts. Like the "R" class, they were fitted with Walschaerts valve motion, were good steamers, rode well with a roomy cab that applealed to engine crews. These splendid little lcomotives enjoyed a service life of more than 40 years.
