Remarks:     Originally built for the Rakaia and Ashburton Forks Railway. Taken over by NZR in 1881. A "Forney" type 32 ton well tank locomotive, they did not have a separate tender. Instead they carried the coal bunker and water tank on an extension of the main frame and were supported by a trailing bogie behind the cab. They were light and puny engines but quite nimble and proved useful on light, fast trains. However they did not last very long and were retired after 10 years.
