Description
Marion, NC is located near the junction of the Southern Railway tracks between Hickory and Asheville, and the Clinchfield main line from Spartanburg, SC to Johnson City, TN. The upper track represents the Southern with the lower modeling the busy Clinchfield main line. Just a few minutes of waiting and several trains hauling coal and other freight through the Blue Ridge Mountains should arrive.

The quiet city of Marion, with the old brick mill building at the center of town, is busy today with several deliveries to the distribution warehouse. Blue Ridge Manufacturing is also busy with tractor trailers waiting to be loaded.

Just outside of town is the Western Carolina Granite Company where loads of stone ballast are waiting for the next local freight.
