Lake Shore Electric
Freight Motor # 42
Lake Shore Electric 42 is a freight motor that was rebuilt from passenger car 141 in 1929. LSE removed the seats from 141, sheathed the wooden sides with steel sheets, cut in large loading doors in the center of the car and re-numbered it 42. The car was originally built in 1907 by the Niles Car Co.
The car last ran in 1937. The body was then sold and moved to a residence east of Sandusky, Ohio where the owner took good care of the car. In early 1998 NORM purchased the car body and moved it to our museum site.
