Railroad announces new services |
The North Georgia and Appalachian railroad announces a joint
agreement with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railroad for track rights between Saluda North Carolina and Spartanburg South Carolina. This agreement culminates months of negotiations to retain a railroad presence on the steepest grade east of the Mississippi River. NGAR will operate passenger and freight operations down this route connecting to it's main line which runs up from Atlanta and along the spine of the Appalachian Mountains into western Pennsylvania. As a result NGAR will add coal to it's list of products it carries. Other commodities include, general freight, Lumber, forest products, mail, and refuse. The North Georgia and Appalachian Railroad would like to announce that we have secured trackage from Atlanta to Pittsburgh PA. north and south. We have also added trackage across the south east to the Mississippi river. The North Georgia and Appalachian railroad would also like to announce establishment of our offices, yard and intermodal facility in MC Donough GA. and a yard and maintenance facility in New Orleans LA. The North Georgia and Appalachian Railroad is very excited about our relationship to all the railroads in the Wasterunner system and look forward to connections with many different roads and short lines in the context of this and other projects. The North Georgia and Appalachian Railroad would like to announce the establishment of an engine maintenance facility and the acquisition of the Hartwell Railroad in Northeast Georgia. More information will be forthcoming about routes, trackage, services, equipment and staffing. As I am Eternally, |
