Welcome to the NC&STL Volunteer Modelers website! We are an all volunteer model railroading group located in Jackson, Tennessee. Our layout is housed in the former NC&StL Ry passenger depot, now the Jackson Depot Museum, South Royal Street, Jackson, Tenn. It measures 11 feet by 20 feet and has about 500 feet of track. We can run four trains continuously on the following routes: the NC&StL/L&N line featuring a model of our depot; Gulf Mobile & Ohio RR in its original two track main line configuration through town, featuring Iselin shops and yard plus Union Station; and Illinois Central, featuring the "truck trap" bridge over Highland Avenue.
After the 2003 tornado, the layout was extensively reworked, especially the scenery, to make it look more like West Tennessee, including kudzu embankments, the muddy Forked Deer River, Bemis Mill, and Downtown Jackson.
Emphasis is made on rolling stock typical of railroads that ran through Jackson.
For more information about joining our club contact the Depot museum, open Monday through Friday, 10 am until 3 pm, telephone 731-425-8223, or email the layout volunteer coordinator,
