Weekday
Service:
The San Diego Northern Railway's Coaster Commuter Service provides
eleven roundtrips on weekdays between Oceanside and San
Diego. Service is provided to eight stations. Effective in early 2004, a new
station at University City, serving La Jolla, will be inaugurated.
Friday Night Service:
Effective in early Summer 2002, the Friday Night Service trains will return.
Information will be announced as it becomes available, as to the number of
roundtrips that are available for use.
Saturday Service:
Saturday Service consists of four roundtrips that are spaced evenly
throughout the day.
San Diego Senior's Weekend Service:
This is an annual event for the Coaster and other transit modes in San Diego
County. The annual celebration of Seniors On The Go is held on the second
weekend in June, Annually. There are three additonal roundtrips provided
for this service on Saturday, and five roundtrips on the Sunday of this
event.
San Diego Street Scene Festival:
The Coaster operates additional service consistting of two additional
roundtrips on Friday, one additional southbound and four additonal
northbound trips on Saturday, and a special Sunday Schedule for this event
that consists of five roundtrips that are evenly spaced throughout the
day. This event is held annually on the second weekend in September.
Thanksgiving Friday:
On Thanksgiving Friday, a modified schedule, consisting of six roundtrips
spaced evenly throughout the day is operated. This allows passengers to get an
early start on their holiday shopping.
Currently, Sunday Service is not operated on most Sundays in the year, and there
is no holiday service available. Ticket machines are located in all eight
stations. Most tickets must be validated prior to boarding the train each time.
Transfer upgrade tickets must be presented with a valid transfer from a
connecting bus.
