RAIL-2-RAIL AMTRAK/COASTER JOINT-TICKET HONORING POLICY
AS IT APPLIES TO COASTER CONDUCTORS
Coaster Conductors will honor any valid
Amtrak Tickets for Surfliner or Amtrak Thruway Bus Travel, including one-way,
ten-trip, and monthly passes on any Coaster Train that serves the same city
pair.
Amtrak Tickets will be honored as
follows:
1.
Amtrak One-Way Tickets: Conductors must lift the transportation
portion of the ticket and turn it in with their delay reports. This will insure that the ticket cannot be
used for any other travel, exchange, or refund.
2.
Amtrak Ten-Ride Tickets: The next un-punched or un-marked trip number
must be punched out or marked out in ink and the ticket returned to the
passenger. This will correctly reduce
the number of remaining trips that the passenger may under-take on this ticket.
3.
Amtrak Monthly Tickets: These are flash tickets similar to Coaster
Monthlies. The tickets are simply to be
honored after verifying that the pass is valid for the current month.
Amtrak ticket holders riding outside the
limits of the city pair limits on their tickets may be subject to a citation
under the Coaster Honor System. Coaster Conductors have the discretion and
should opt to have the passenger purchase a Coaster Ticket for that portion of
the trip traveled beyond the city pair limits of their ticket before issuing a
citation.
The Coaster permits children less than
five years of age to travel for free, including all passengers traveling with
Amtrak tickets.
Coaster Conductors will indicate in the
appropriately designated area of their delay reports the number of Amtrak
riders that were aboard their specific train.
Note that Amtrak and Freight Railroad
Employee Passes and tickets obtained with these passes are not valid for travel
on any Coaster Train. Amtrak and
Freight Railroad employees may only ride on Coaster Trains by presenting a
proper Coaster ticket.
