New Yard
As of 2009, the layout included two eight-foot
modules which make
up a yard, modules 1 and 18 (see existing
layout map). Problems were that the existing modules 1 and 18 were too heavy and bulky, and it was
difficult getting trains into and out of theyard. Two changes were proposed: (1) to build a new yard to
extend as a peninsula into the center of the layout area and (2) to
rebuild the old yard as a switching district. The latter would
involve rebuilding the physical modules 1 and 18 into a more light
weight form, as shown in the following track plan.

responsibility for building the new yard modules.
