February 16, 1948:
While the City Councils opposed destruction of the streetcar
system, the Chambers of Commerce endorsed it. This is because the
Chambers of Commerce represent gas stations, car dealers, auto parts
stores, auto repair, tire shops, auto repainting, body shops, etc.,
among others.
