Hi-line Turntable Construction

Hi-line turntable construction - 01/11/03

This is the center support for the turntable. You can see the bearing at the top and
the adjustment nuts at the bottom.

Frank gives Elizabeth a lesson on a milling machine. She had to make pilot holes in bar stock
which will be welded to the turntable end of the steaming bays. There are two holes in each plate
for the adjustment studs seen on the posts.

Elizabeth begins machining the first of 16 plates.

OK! Let's try the cutting torch now!

Frank starts cutting off the fourth rail (5" gauge) from the bridge.

Elizabeth observes as Frank removes some redundant brackets.

Jim Leggett has a go at the milling machine.
