Nearly new at the time, the 5659 leads HLCX SD40-3 6058 past Beare siding on #361. HLCX 6058 is in familiar territory as it is a former CN SD40. |

The 9412 leads the last of a much loved class of locomotive on CN, as long as you didn't have to work with them; CN MLW M636 #2338. Trailing that is an M420W and a GP40-2W. The 9412 was retired on March 31, 2000. |

In one of those great catch lashups, CN SD75I #5629 leads Conrail SD40-2 #6430 and a Norfolk Southern C30-7 at Beare. At the time of the photo, the CSX/NS split of Conrail was not even dreamed of. |

Making for a pleasant sight without the more common SD75's, the #275 climbs past Beare behind the 9630, 5016, and a GTW GP38-2. |

In the late afternoon sun the eastbound #148 glides downgrade past Beare. |
