CP 4210

Making history, the last daylight run of the last five operable CP MLW diesels roll #923 westbound through Newtonville. As the sun sets on this day, June 20, 1998, an era in Canadian railroading ends.

Nearing the end her career, C424 4240 leads two sisters through the railfan resort know as Newtonville.

CP 5540-SOO 6042 on #739 July 1, 2000

Over thirty years old, CP SD40 #5540 is in her last summer on the CPR. A flood of AC4400's and SD90/43MAC & SD90MAC's has freed up enough Soo SD60's and CP SD40-2's that the Toronto pool, and CP, can let go of these faithful units. Even on CP, where trouble-prone models can live long lives, age can kill off the mighty SD40 line.
