Only seen one train here in town - a local CN freight moving north to Coulterville.
I believe the UP which comes into town from the southwest has filed for
abandonedment from Evansville to Sparta. UP already abandoned the line
north of Sparta from Coulterville to Centralia with the portion between
Sparta and Coulterville used by the CN.Sparta was one of the locations (Belleville and Freeburg, IL
and Dyersburg, TN) where the movie "In the Heat of the Night" was filmed.
The railroad station, ex GM&O, is now an art museum (click here to go the their website).
