Spoornet is the agency overseeing the freight and passenger train operations within South Africa.  South African railroads are narrow gauge.  Spoornet has 21,984 km of 3 ft. gauge rail of which over 10,000 km is electrified.  This includes over 2,000 km of commuter rail.  South Africa also has 314 km of 1.75 ft. gauge rail line.  All photos are of the 3 ft. gauge rail lines.
