France's Matra Transport (now Siemens) was in charge of building the $855-million Mucha line. Opened  March 28th 1996 after 2 years of testing it was the first revenue operating line for the TRTC. The Mucha line is of the VAL type with no conventional rails between the concrete beams and with what seems to be a directional guideway in the center to assist with the end of line track switching.
