- Amtrak's F40's are numbered from 200 - 415, but a large number of them are either stored, scrapped, converted to "cab control baggage cars", leased or sold. The F40 used to be the work-horse of Amtrak, but since the arrival of the Genesis, the active F40 fleet has dwindled.
