I first learned of the Oregon &p; Northwestern through two sources, a Wayne Monger photograph of ONW's four Baldwins sitting in sagebrush outside one of the big lumber drying sheds in Hines, Oregon, and then an article by Dick Dorn on Oregon's last loggers that opened with a two-page photo of an O&NW freight. Years later I got to know both men, and this book is a collaboration I did with Wayne with some help from Dick's photography. It tells the story of the railroading associated with the Edward Hines Lumber Company operations in and north of Burns, Oregon.
