(Picture #135) near Pierce, CA, circa 1998. The #25 was supposed to lead a special snow excursion between McCloud and Mt. Shasta City, but a mechanical failure caused the train to stall partway up the hill. Diesel #37 was plowing the line out ahead of the special, and it was forced to back down to pull the stranded excursion train the rest of the way to Mt. Shasta City. Here the #37 is seen preparing to couple onto the excursion train. Photo by Anna Moore |
