McCloud Rails : Passenger Operations: Excursion Photos
Steam Locomotive #18: 7 August 2005 |
|
The #18 came out for perhaps the last time on McCloud rails over the weekend of 6-7 August 2005. On
Saturday 6 August 2005 the locomotive hauled three passenger specials from McCloud to Hooper and return
in conjunction with the Civil War re-enactment. On Sunday, 7 August 2005, the locomotive took passenger
flat #826 up to Signal Butte and return. According to McCloud Railway management the locomotive is
"not likely" to operate again in McCloud, although the situation may change in the future if the need
to run the locomotive arises in the future. The Virginia & Truckee restoration group that now owns
the #18 is making good progress on building tracks for the #18 to run on, so they may be able to take
delivery of the locomotive later this year or early next. All photos by Jeff Moore. |

Today's excursion ran from McCloud up to Signal Butte and return. The train paused at Signal Butte just long enough for some photographs. |

After the excursion the #18 returned to the shop building. The crew ran one special runby at the shop building before putting the locomotive away for perhaps the last time. |
