McCloud Rails : Passenger Operations: Excursion Photos
Steam Locomotive #18: 4 July 2005 |
|
On Monday, 4 July 2005, the #18 powered a series of excursions between McCloud and Mt. Shasta
City. In the morning the locomotive ran from McCloud to Mt. Shasta City. This was followed
by two short trips from Mt. Shasta City to Big Canyon and return, followed by a return trip to
McCloud later in the afternoon. All photos by Roger Titus. |

4 July 2005 was a momentous day on another front, as it marked the end of the line for veteran McCloud employee Michael Zetocha. Michael- "Mickey" to his colleagues- worked his way up through the ranks, ending up as a regular brakeman in the final years of the McCloud River Railroad. Mickey split his time between the shop and the train crew in the early days of the McCloud Railway before becoming certified as an engineer. Mickey became the #2 engineer on the railroad following the retirement of Carol Julien, and he moved into the top spot following the retirement of Malen Johnson at the end of August 2003. Malen (right) and Mickey (left) are seen here standing next to the crew schedule board in the office. Mickey started a new job as an engineer with the Central Oregon & Pacific railroad the next day. |
