McCloud Models: Lee Christopher's McCloud Railway Layout Pictures-Golden Spike Ceremony Photos

Lee Christopher's McCloud Railway
Golden Spike Celebration

On 29 March 2008, Lee Christopher drove the "Golden Spike" on his McCloud Railway layout. Lee has been at work on the layout for four and a half years now. The event called for a proper ceremony.

The #37 is pushing two flatcars with the final rail and spikes into position.

The 966 loader is on hand to unload the track materials from the flatcars.

Once the spikes have been unloaded, the 966 can then turn its attention to the final rail.

Construction workers are seeing here preparing to place the final rail on the ties.

The final rail is in place and the spiking has begain.

The moment is drawing near. The railroad has gathered locomotives 25, 37, and 39 around the site and the spike has been put in position.

The golden spike is being driven into the tie.

The job is about done. This view shows the equipment gathered for the occassion.

Three loaded woodchip hoppers are the first cars on the completed track. Now that the track work is done, Lee can start the ballasting and landscaping of the rest of his layout. We are looking forward to seeing where he goes from here!
