McCloud Rails: McCloud River Lumber Company Landing Scenes
|
|
The location where logs are loaded onto either trucks or railcars for transport to the mill is known in
logging as the Landing. This series of photos from the collection of Dennis Sullivan most likely dates from
the 1940's and shows typical operations around a landing, with cats skidding logs to the landing area, where
a McGiffert loader lifts them onto waiting railcars.
