First a word about how mileposts are numbered on the railroad. All of the mileposts on the road count outward from McCloud except for the Hambone-Lookout section. Mileposts on the McCloud-Mt. Shasta section have a M-prefix; Mileposts between McCloud and Hambone are just numbers; milposts between Hambone and Lookout have BH prefixes; mileposts on the Bartle-Burney section have B-prefixes; and the Sierra branch has S-prefixes.
