In a perfect world, you could probably take an intercity train anywhere in the U.S. multiple times during the day. Failing that, you can at least take rail or transit to your city's airport... In Portland, Ore., the MAX Red Line goes right to the main terminal building. In New York City, you can take the subway or the Long Island RR to Jamaica and connect with the JFK AirTrain. You can even still ride the country's very first airport rapid transit link, in Cleveland, Ohio. This Oct. 5, 2004 photograph shows a southbound Acela racing past the platforms of the rail station at Newark Liberty International Airport. Passengers heading to and from Newark Liberty can use Amtrak Regional and New Jersey Transit local trains that connect with the Port Authority AirTrain monorail system serving all of the airport's terminals. |
