MARC Railfan and Modeler Site

The Unofficial MARC Railfan & Modeler Site

Introduction

Welcome to my unofficial MARC railfanning page. This site is intended to provide railfan information about the Penn, Camden, and Brunswick lines, as well as pictures of equipment and sites. This page in no way represents any policies or opinions of MARC, the MTA, or the State of Maryland, and is purely intended for the enjoyment of railfans and model railroaders. Please send any comments or questions to the address below.

The Maryland Rail Commuter system, part of the state's Mass Transit Administration, provides transportation to and from the Baltimore and Washington D.C. metropolitan areas for residents of the central part of Maryland. Throughout the week, commuters ride trains from the suburbs to their jobs in these cities and return again in the afternoon. Nearly all MARC stations provide parking for commuters, and many also allow passengers to transfer to the MTA's Light Rail, Metro, and bus systems, as well as D.C.'s Metro subways and buses. MARC trains are operated in conjunction with personnel from Amtrak and CSX Transportation.

The MTA maintains three separate MARC lines: the Penn Line, between Perryville, Maryland and Union Station in D.C., through Baltimore's Penn Station; The Camden Line, between Camden Yards in Baltimore and Union Station; and the Brunswick Line, stretching from Washington to Martinsburg, West Virginia.
