The LaSalle and Bureau County Railroad Company - Today
Today, a large portion of the LS&BC exists and is still in service. The city of Peru purchased the mainline from the wye at Hegelers to just west of IL 251 (BNSF is the operator). A developing industrial park lies on both sides of the mainline, and several of the industries have spurs. Leone's Elevator still receives shipments by rail, West End siding still exists, and the former Wolohan's siding (now Casino Bingo) occasionally sees shipments of paper for unloading at the dock, as well as boxcars for the Double D warehouse located on the spur.
The railroad east of IL 251 has been abandoned, and the underpass under I 80 has since been filled in.
