Fall in the Foothills
This is the foothill area. The mainline passes through here on it's way up Lone Wolf Canyon to Wolf Mountain.
This area is a transition between suburban and rural, where new suburbs are being built.
The orange groves and vineyards are being replaced with new tract housing. The time of year here is autumn.
It is Halloween at one house and harvest time later in the fall at the orange groves.
The Foothill Amphitheater has just opened and southern California's No Doubt headlines the show on the main stage, drowning out the sound of the mainline freight which is passing right behind them.
Further up in the foothills a German polka band plays the Beer Barrel Polka at the Oktoberfest being held at Lone Wolf Lake.
A Southern Pacific freight train with lumber from the North West passes through Redlands.
A trio of old EMD six axle diesels pulls a string of boxcars towards the mountains.
