KJRY Alco S-2 #205 departs from LaHarpe, IL with a train for Keokuk on December 30, 1986. The tank car is an empty returning to the Hubinger Company in Keokuk, and the hopper cars likely hold corn for Hubinger. Alco #205 came from the Manufacturer's Railway in St. Louis, and was shortly renumbered to #20.

KJRY switches the country station of LaCrosse, IL on December 23, 1987. LaCrosse consists of a five-car storage track, several houses, and a former general store. Unit #1215 is classified as a TR-2-A. It is ex-CB&Q #9405-A (later BN 557). Leased from Relco, it was returned in 1990.

Westbound KJRY #1215 is doubling the hill near Burnside, IL. The grade east of Burnside was one of the steepest on the railroad, and was the ruling grade for westbound trains. (December 23, 1987)

The eastbound KJRY local is arriving in LaHarpe, IL on the hot summer afternoon of June 3, 1988. Unit #1214 was classified a TR-2-B, and was built for the CB&Q as #9405-B (later BN #556) in 1949. The cab was added by EMD in 1954 when the unit was converted from a booster to a cab unit.

Back home in the Keokuk yard, #1064 rests at the "switch shanty." This little ex-Rock Island building was home base for the Keokuk switch crew--a place to do paperwork, eat lunch, and escape from the oppressive summer heat. (October 15, 1986)

Pride of the KJRY was private car #1, the Chief Keokuck. Rebuilt from the ex-Wabash parlor car City of Lafayette, the Chief was used to entertain shippers and board members, and for an occasional road trip behind an Amtrak train. (December 26, 1986)

After the bankruptcy of the Rock Island, the Toledo, Peoria and Western Railway was designated to handle the Rock's switching operation at Keokuk. The KJRY took over from the TP&W in 1981, and later purchased the TP&W's branch from Keokuk to LaHarpe, IL. (October 10, 1980)
