Response to the last two snow storms of 2003 have been poor at the Kingston
Station. Response by the snow removal contractor has been late and lacking.
Rather than come early and before station traffic, the plow shows up in
the evening after the storm when the snow has been packed down by the
traffic. The plowing is barely minimal. Wide swathes over four feet to
six feet from the curbs are unplowed by the contractor. RIDOT [state HW]
plows come by to open up street access, which does much to help our traffic
but does little to make parking and departing safe or even possible for
some guests. Selective clearing of the sidewalks to leave large snow piles
remaining on the walkways, forcing guests to jump over snow and ice in
many locations. Parking for the bus is made very difficult for the shuttle
bus drivers.
