GP30 Phases:

Phase Ia- wire grill inertial intakes, flush radiator grills, short cab, two-piece cover under the inertial intakes, fabricated cab heater intake (the one used on earlier Geeps). 3-6/62
Phase Ib1- cab heater intakes changed to sets of five stamped louvers. 6-10/62
Phase Ib2- same as Ib1 and built concurrently, but with extended cab on fireman's side. 8-10/62
Phase Ic1- one-piece panel under the inertial intakes, short cab. 11/62-1/63
Phase Ic2- same as Phase Ic1 and built concurrently, but with extended cab on fireman's side. 11/62-1/63
Phase Id- extended-cab, the radiator grill becomes slightly larger and protrudes from the hood a bit. 1/63-3/63
Phase Ie- the rear sand filler changes to the top-mounted square hatch. 4-6/63
[N&W's GP30s had this sand filler as a special order in 1962, but were otherwise Phase Ib1]

Phase IIa- the inertial intake is changed to a stamped piece, with two vertical stiffeners. 6-8/63
Phase IIb- the sand fillers change from the square type to the small circular type. 8-11/63
