Phases:

Phase Ia: original frame, 4 stacks, bevel grill (the VO-660 body), used only on American Cyanamid 13 (6/46).
Phase Ib: flat front grill (10/46-12/47).

Phase IIa: redesigned cast frame, 3 stacks, distinct groups of upper louver sets (3-/48). IIa1 has a 3-louver set mounted low ahead of the sand fillers and another 3-louver set behind the right sand filler (3-5/48). IIa2 has a 7-louver set ahead of the sand filler (7/48-5/49). IIa3 eliminates the 7-louver set (7-8/49).

Phase III: straight side sill, redesigned cab windows, pair of tall louver sets on two bulged doors on the left side, hinged sand door (3/50-2/51).
