- The city of Salt Lake held elections on October 5 for mayor. Of the two candidates who will run against each other, both are supporters of light rail. In fact the 3 very vocal opponents of light rail garnered only 412 of the 26,000 votes. This goes along with a poll that was taken last week that says 60% of city residents favored the proposed East/West light rail line. The most vocal opponent of light rail, Dr. Ken Larson, received only 118 votes.
