Ennistimon, small market town
(Saturdays) on the Inagh, parish of Kilmanaheen (q.v.), West county
Clare, Ireland, 14 miles WSW of Ennis. The court-house and
bridewell form a single building ; the other public buildings
include a cruciform Protestant church (1830), Roman Catholic
church, school, dispensary, and Union poor-house. Ennistimon
House was formerly a seat of the O'Brien family. The Inagh is
here crossed by a bridge, and a little lower down passes over a
ledge of rocks, forming a picturesque cascade. Woollens are
manufactured, but the industry has much declined.
Population: 1200.
